They’re an Aggie if…
They ask to swap orange for maroon.
Just for some context, no, I am not an Aggie by alma mater but it could be argued that some gig ‘em blood runs through my veins. That being said, I will never fully understand the innate Aggie aversion to anything orange. It’s warm, stimulating, comforting, happy, & the color of Cheetos. What’s not to love!?
Apparently a lot.
My recent brand identity client requested a logo that combined midcentury modern vibes with an ode to southern hospitality. This is not the most linear connection to make but then again, I prefer a challenge! The final design, color palette, typography, and brand voice were a smashing success. Only one itty bitty edit was suggested- to swap orange for maroon. Not to be dramatic, but the thought of this violation to color theory nearly gave me an aneurysm.
Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Orange Maroon!?
Orange is the poster child for all things hospitality and comfort! It was the perfect player! I couldn’t send him to the sideline in our hour of need! After my imaginary aneurysm began to subside, I made the unthinkable swap.
And it… wait, no… I can’t talk about it anymore.
